Bangalore is the largest city and the capital of the state of Karnataka. Bangalore was founded in 1537 AD by Yelahanka Nadaprabhu Kempegowda. It is located on the southern plateau, in the southeast of Karnataka. Bangalore is the 5th largest city in India and the 3rd most populous city. Bangalore is known worldwide as the ‘Silicon Valley’ of India due to its significant contribution to the world’s information technology sector. Situated at an altitude of over 3000 feet (914.4 m) above sea level, Bangalore enjoys a pleasant climate throughout the year. It has a large number of lakes. With large parks like ‘Cubbin Park’ and ‘Lalbagh’, this city is also known as the ‘Garden City’.
